Preparation

heat half of the milk with a teaspoon of sugar and the crumbled yeast. keep in a warm place.

Mix the egg yolks, the butter and the rest of the sugar that is left over in a bowl. add a few drops of vanilla extract, the peel, nutmeg and salt. mix and add sifted flour. pour the milk into this bowl.


stir well and form a consistent dough.
add the walnuts and raisins.
let rise.


divide the dough in two. one half is cut into 4 equal pieces and, forming strips, a braid is made.


the other half is divided into 4. behind the four strips another braid is formed; the rest is divided in two and a twist is made (as seen in the photo)

Then, the largest braid is placed (the one that was only divided into 3 parts) on a greased source, on top of this, the other braid (the one formed by 3 strips) and finally the twisted is placed on them. bring the ends of all the braids together and fold them.

let it rest for half an hour. spread it with beaten egg. bake.
once cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
