Licorice Tea

Licorice's complicated chemical composition gives it a wide range of properties. Much research has compared its action to hydrocortisone, but without its side effects. Like cortisone, it would have the effect of reducing inflammation and relieving symptoms of arthritis and allergies, hence its antihistamine effect. The root has glycyrrhizin (fifty times sweeter than sucrose), which favors the formation of hormones such as hydrocortisone. Women often use licorice to regulate menstrual cycles, as it promotes hormonal balance. Its most common use is in the treatment of respiratory problems, such as bronchitis, cough, the accumulation of phlegm and other symptoms of colds due to expectorant action.

CAUTION:
Its use is contraindicated in people with high blood pressure, heart problems, kidney disease and low blood potassium levels and pregnant women.
